David Lucas will be participating in his second annual Penn Relays later this month at historic Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. Last year Lucas finished in the #4 spot overall in the Discus, behind one other American and two Jamaicans. He is once again looking forward to experiencing the magic found in the Penn Relays carnival atmosphere. From a thrower’s perspective, the facilities at Franklin Field are arguably the best available in the US. See pic below showing the Discus cage with the Philadelphia skyline as a backdrop.
A few interesting statistics about the Penn Relays:
-
More than 60 countries around the world have athletes participating in the Penn Relays!
-
Penn Relays has more than 22,000 entrants annually!
-
More athletes compete at the Penn Relays than at the Olympics!
